Chili Powder

Origin:

Texas, New Mexico, California

Description:

Chili powder is a blend of chili pepper, cumin, garlic, salt and other natural spices. The two most popular chili powders are light and dark chili powder. The biggest misconception is that color determines the heat, but all it changes is the color.

Applications:

Mexican style foods and barbecue sauces use chili powder extensively, as does chili con carne, rubs for beef brisket, pork ribs, chicken, and beans.
