Description:

Cardamom has a strong, unique taste, with an intensely aromatic fragrance. The outer pod is green or black depending on variety and the inner seeds are small, angular, oily, and brownish black. It is a common ingredient in Indian cooking, and is often used in baking in Nordic countries.

Applications:

This is a spice with an incredibly wide variety of uses. It is used not only in savory stews and meat marinades but it shows up in a wide range of desserts and beverages, including coffees and chai tea. Cardamom is also used in spice blends such as curry powders and garam masala. Try adding a few of these fragrant pods to just about anything for an exotic flair.
